I'm a old beginner of 80 years of age. I like the sound, love the low weight.Get a good arm rest for this. (The reason that I say it has a factory setup is that it didn't appear to have been monkeyed with; I'm 90% sure it even had its original strings.) Not a classic or traditional look but it grows on you. The components are plain, the wood is multi-ply composite, the tuners are geared guitar style tuners, it only has 16 bracket hooks, and so on. Ordered it in the EagleMusic web shop and received the banjo about a few weeks after. Would recommend to anyone wanting a great banjo to learn clawhammer. It is light so I'll take it anywhere including vacations. We stuck with the other due to the price. I think the head needs to be mellower for the sake of keeping more mids/lows in the mix.When playing at an old-time jam session it seems to get lost.I like how it sings when playing by itself, but trying to make it work in a group situation or at the moment through a PA is a struggle.
